Introduction to Incentive Program: This year we began a new rewards system with our Junior High students that we have entitled our Incentive Program. The purpose of this program is twofold. We want to provide positive social experiences to help our students grow in their Christian relationships with their peers and teachers. We also want to provide incentives that will encourage the students to focus clearly on their classroom obligations and behave in a manner that is consistent with school guidelines. Students earn points for following through with responsibilities that will help them be successful students and responsible young people (completing & turning in homework, effort & class participation, participation in chapels, general conduct, etc.). These points are then tabulated at the end of each quarter. Each student needs to earn a specific number of points in order to qualify to participate in an end-of-the-quarter Incentive Activity. This program is based upon conduct, effort, and participation; it is not based upon academic level or academic ability. This program was discussed with our Junior High students earlier in the year.Classroom – Points EarnedWe expect our Junior High students to complete and turn in class work, assignments, homework, signed papers, and other important paperwork on time. When these items are turned in on their due dates, your student earns points towards the incentive activity. We also expect our Junior High students to conduct themselves in a manner that is positive and appropriate. Students should be exhibiting positive attitudes and effort in their classes. We encourage them to actively participate as well. We encourage students to conduct themselves in an appropriate, acceptable manner. Your student has the opportunity to earn points when these character traits are exhibited throughout the quarter.Other Areas – Points Earned
Students are expected to be responsible and behave appropriately during homeroom times, lunchtimes, Chapels, and in the hallways. Points are earned for conduct in these areas as well. Students who exhibit disruptive and/or distracting behavior will not earn the full amount of points that are possible.
On the planned date of any incentive activity, students who have earned enough points will be given information about the activity and permission slips to take home. Students who have not earned enough points will remain at school and will either need work to get caught up on things that they owe to teachers, or they will have subject area work to complete.
